Job Summary:

As an Entry Level Quantity Surveyor in our retail franchisee company, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient analysing and reporting cost information to more effectively budget, forecast and monitor costs, accurate project estimation, and effective procurement processes. You will work closely with the project team, including designers and suppliers, to oversee the cost-related aspects of our retail projects. Your primary focus will be on conducting quantity take-offs, estimating project costs, managing procurement activities, and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Quantity Surveyor with procurement experience to kickstart their career in the retail industry.

Responsibilities:

Quantity Take-Offs: Perform accurate quantity take-offs from construction drawings, ensuring all elements are accounted for and measured correctly.

Cost Estimation: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for retail projects, considering materials, labour, equipment, and other project-related expenses.

Procurement Management: Collaborate with the multiple brand, cross functional teams to identify suitable suppliers, obtain competitive bids, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships.

Budget Control: Monitor project budgets and provide regular reports on cost variations, highlighting areas of concern and proposing cost-saving measures.

Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality or functionality.

Tender Evaluation & Contract Administration: Evaluate tenders received for projects, analyse pricing proposals, and provide recommendations for contractor selection. Assist in contract administration tasks, including document management.

Compliance and Regulations: Stay up-to-date with industry standards, codes, regulations, and statutory requirements related to quantity surveying and procurement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferably a technical background.

Knowledge of quantity take-off methods, cost estimation techniques, and procurement best practices.

Proficient in excel, excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of retail industry practices and standards is a plus.

Relevant internships or work experience in quantity surveying or procurement is preferred.
