Strategic Leadership: Spearhead the restructuring and continual refinement of the Company’s global compliance department to meet the evolving needs of the business and regulatory landscape
Reporting and Communication: Regularly inform the General Counsel of materially important information, developments, and strategic insights pertaining to global compliance matters. With the ability to escalate matters that require immediate attention in a timely manner.
Regulatory Liaison: Foster cordial relationships with multiple global regulators including those in developing countries, effectively representing the firm’s compliance strategies, and actions. While knowing when to politely uphold the company’s commercial perspective.
Commercial Acumen: Uphold a compliance framework that aligns with business objectives, promoting a balanced approach to commercial success and regulatory adherence.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse team of compliance professionals situated across over six countries, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement
Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, audits, and investigations, ensuring rigorous oversight, timely resolution, and accurate reporting of compliance issues.
Problem solving: required to navigate and provide commercially sound solutions within complex overlapping environments
The Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., JD, MBA) are preferred.
Extensive experience in the financial markets, with a strong background in international trading compliance
Demonstrable experience in managing, restructuring, and leading global multi-national compliance teams. (SH has limited)
Superior organizational, strategic planning, and communication skills
Proven ability to liaise effectively with global regulators, especially in MENA and LATAM. Including experience acquiring brokerage licenses in at least 3 jurisdictions, along with maintaining those licenses successfully
