Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Providing legal advice and support to the management of the company in relation to all aspects of ship ownership and operation.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents, including but not limited to charters, MOUs, construction and repair agreements, and vessel sale and purchase agreements.
• Advising on compliance with domestic and international maritime laws and regulations.
• Managing disputes arising from the contracting and operation of vessels, including the management of external counsel.
• Identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with the company’s operations.
• Advising on environmental and health and safety issues in compliance with company policies.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Conducting legal research and keeping up-to-date with legal developments in the maritime industry.
• Drafting and/or reviewing policies and procedures as needed.
• Liaising with regulatory authorities, partners, and other external stakeholders as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university.
• Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in the maritime industry.
• Strong knowledge of maritime law and regulations.
• Experience in negotiating and drafting complex legal agreements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong legal research and drafting skills.
• Fluency in English and Russian is required.
